Action For Children
MCSA’s chosen Christmas Charity this year is Action for Children.
How the charity works
From before they are born until they are into their twenties, Action for Children help disadvantaged children across the UK.
By helping them through fostering or adoption – and by intervening early to stop neglect and abuse. Action for Children make life better for children with disabilities. The charity influences policy and advocate for change. 7,000 staff and volunteers operate over 600 services, improving the lives of 370,000 children, teenagers, parents and carers every year. They succeed by doing what’s right, doing what’s needed, and doing what works for children.
More about Action for Children
When Methodist minister Thomas Bowman Stephenson saw children living rough under the arches of Waterloo station in London, he decided he had to act. And his first action was to listen.
He paid children the respect of hearing their stories, before working out the most practical way to help.
A century and a half later, the spirit of the founder remains their inspiration. Action for Children take action on behalf of 370,000 children, young people, parents and carers across the UK.
What MCSA are doing to support Action for Children
Raffle & Tombola
Every year MCSA hold a staff raffle and tombola for Christmas and sometimes dress up in themed outfits to get into the spirit of fundraising – something we like to do!
This year we will be doing the same, and all proceeds raised from our Christmas 2017 fundraising will be donated to Action for Children.
