Our approach at MCSA has always been to develop people from the ground up, whether they’re starting their careers straight from school or upon leaving university. We believe strongly in apprenticeships, which are increasingly recognised as a positive, proven way to develop young people into productive members of staff and a way to build the next generation of skilled IT professionals. At MCSA we have a fully accredited apprenticeship scheme and our apprentices play a very active role in the business from day one.
This National Apprenticeship Week (NAW2018), meet some of our current and former apprentices to find out more about the opportunities at MCSA to build a rewarding career in the growing IT sector.
Brett Bowie, MCSA apprentice, said, “I started my apprenticeship at MCSA just over 6 months ago and I’ve already developed technical and customer service skills. My apprenticeship has enabled me to gain experience in IT at an established and well-respected company. I like the fact that no day is ever the same – every day you are faced with new challenges which means you are constantly developing new skills.
I look forward to what the next few months have in store.”
Muhammad Wasib, Junior Solutions Engineer, said, “I graduated from the apprenticeship programme in October 2016 and can’t recommend it highly enough. After college I wanted hands-on experience within a leading IT organisation such as MCSA. From day one you are encouraged to use your initiative and problem solve, developing core skills which you can then apply to many different areas within IT. My current role involves helping customers to resolve their IT issues by triaging the problem and then assigning the most appropriate support person. Every day I get to utilise the skills I have been taught during my apprenticeship, which is great.”
Dan Butler, MCSA Managed Services Consultant, said, “Despite receiving an offer for a university place, I felt that an apprenticeship would give me the real-world IT experience that I was after. I joined MCSA in September 2014 as an apprentice and I flourished with the mix of theoretical and practical learning. My apprenticeship also taught me the true meaning of good customer service, something which is synonymous with MCSA. My current role varies depending on where I am based, whether it be on site or out of the office, but the skills acquired during my apprenticeship are always at the core of what I do.”
