NHS Health Scotland, the special Health Board in Scotland with national responsibilities to reduce health inequalities and improve health, has signed a Managed Services contract with IT Services and Solutions provider The MCSA Group. The contract will see The MCSA Group partner with brightsolid Online Technology and Company Net to implement a hosted Microsoft platform in support of NHS Health Scotland’s strategic business improvement programme. The private cloud-based hardware and software solution will provide the Board with a configurable platform based on Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Lync and Sharepoint which will be used to drive improvements in NHS Health Scotland’s major information management and content management processes.
As part of a programme of effort to coordinate a range of Information, Technology and Process improvement projects across the organisation, NHS Health Scotland wanted a managed services provider that could deliver the majority of its needs ‘as a fully integrated service’. A spokesperson at NHS Health Scotland comments, “As the preventative health agenda gained momentum in Scotland, our services grew quite significantly but our back office systems and processes in particular did not keep pace with that growth. As such, we recognised our overall organisational efficiency and effectiveness was being held back and we needed a strategic way to address this disparity.”
The spokesperson added, “As a public body, we have stringent procurement processes to follow. Having investigated the market and a number of Framework contracts in particular, we opted to tender through the Scottish Government’s IT Managed Services Framework. The MCSA Group is one of ten companies on the Framework and having conducted our competitive procurement exercise, it was clear that The MCSA Group could best deliver against our requirements at the lowest, best value price and within our budget expectations. They not only provided us with a compelling and competitive response to the tender but we also felt that The MCSA Group and their partners really understood the benefits of the platform based approach we wanted to take to modernise NHS Health Scotland’s operations.”
The MCSA Group has partnered with brightsolid because of its experience in securely hosting applications as-a-service for public sector clients across Scotland and Company Net because of their exemplary credentials in configuring and developing Microsoft software. All three parties will work together to deliver the hosted Microsoft platform to NHS Health Scotland, with The MCSA Group acting as prime supplier.
The spokesperson concludes, “Our relationship with The MCSA Group partnership has so far been good – through the procurement stages, the contract negotiations and now the early engagement and implementation planning phases. The MCSA Group team shares our ambition for this programme of work and they really understand our objectives – of delivering improved organisational performance and services innovation through the effective use of technology.”
