Meet the team
MCSA’s experienced and established board and management team ensure that the business continues to grow from strength to strength.
Roger Timms is Chairman of MCSA Group Ltd. He founded the company in 1979 and has personally overseen its growth from a two-man start-up based in Reading to a £60 million business employing over 140 staff at multiple locations across the UK. Roger spent his early career at Bismec repairing the first handheld Curta mechanical calculators before graduating to maintain DEC equipment with Systime as lead support manager.
Roger remains an engineer at heart but bemoans the lack of oscilloscopes and soldering irons used by the IT support engineers of today. Outside of the office, Roger enjoys spending time with his wife, children and growing brood of grandchildren, is a keen golfer and a frustrated sailor.
Paul Timms is Managing Director at MCSA Group Ltd. He joined the company in 2006 as Operations Manager for the field service division and after serving his apprenticeship was appointed to the board of directors in 2010 and to his current position in August 2014. Prior to joining MCSA, Paul worked as a project manager for BAE Systems, specialising in real time software development for safety critical applications. He qualified as a Chartered Engineer from the Institute of Engineering and Technology in 2006 and graduated from Exeter University in 1998 with a Masters degree in Engineering and Management. Outside of work Paul enjoys spending time with his wife and young family as well being a keen golfer and cyclist with a penchant for hill climbing!
Peter Darraugh FCMA is Finance Director at MCSA Group Ltd. He joined the company in 2009 after 8 years at Spring Group plc, where he held the position of Chief Financial Officer. Peter spent his early career at Northgate Information Solutions, the UK based HR specialist, joining on their graduate scheme and achieving the position of UK Finance Director. Peter has a degree in Management Science from University of Wales, including a year studying Industrial Engineering at Iowa State University and he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Outside of the office, Peter enjoys spending time with his wife and family, maintains a passion for sport from his previous sporting exploits, is an occasional golfer and has acted as coach and Treasurer at his local cricket club.
Mark Hodge is the Technical Director at MCSA Group Ltd. He joined the company in 1980 as one of its first employees and so has been a key part of the company’s incredible growth from its humble beginnings. Mark started his career in electronics and electrical engineering, working for Applied Research Laboratories, who manufactured emission spectrometers and then later on for Redifon, who made flight simulators. Mark has progressed through the ranks from engineer to his appointment as Technical Director in 1995. Mark became one of the first Microsoft MCSE’s in 1998. More often than not Mark can be seen wearing walking boots and a rucksack rather than business attire, as he has a passion for hill walking particularly in the Peak District and Lake District. If there’s a hill, he wants to climb it, particularly if there’s a pub on the other side.
Mike Patten is our Regional Support Manger charged with managing the national network of Engineers located around the country – Mike began his career as an Instrumentation and calibration engineer before moving into the world of IT. In June 1981 Mike made his move to Maindec where he joined as a Junior engineer working with Roger Timms. Mike was part of the essential engineering team that helped build the culture of customer first, he set up the London City office continuing to build the organisations reputation as the demand for IT service grew in the City. Mike is charismatic personality often found entertaining those around him with a song and a smile, he has a passion for driving and old cars, his bright red 1972 Triumph TR6, is currently undergoing renovation, Mike is looking forward to the day when him and Mrs P can hit the open road with the roar of the 2.5litre fuel injected straight six, singing ‘born to run’!
Gordon Grosse is Director of Technical Services at MCSA where his responsibilities include all areas of Services and Vendor Support. Gordon joined the company in 2003 as a Technical support Engineer, a passionate advocate of technology he has enjoyed a thorough background in the industry starting as an apprentice with Link Systems, building and servicing Electron Microscopes before moving into the world of mainstream IT and infrastructure services. His background includes Field Service & Pre-Sales roles in the UK, Europe and the US focused around Sun Microsystems and other vendor technologies which he continues to develop at MCSA. Married with two children and a dog, Gordon keeps active by participating in a range of sporting activities, he loves the sun, travel and holidays with the family and trying out the local beers!
Craig Fairs is Director of Public Sector Sales at the MCSA. He joined CSA Waverley in 2010 as Framework Sales Manager and was appointed to his current position in 2013 when Maindec Computer Solutions purchased CSA Waverley to form the MCSA Group. Craig started his working life as an engineer before moving into sales in 1991, he developed his selling skills with BMW cars before re-joining the IT Industry to work as a presales engineer and then into sales management. Outside of work Craig likes to get out into the country with his wife on their collection of motorcycles or getting away from it all in ‘Dubie’ their VW campervan, where they along with their dog Charlie, can walk for miles.
Les Wicks is Director of Marketing, joining in 2014 he is seeing through the challenge of rebranding the company as MCSA and communicating the wider range of Services. He joined after spending most of his marketing career in the white goods sector, most recently with Beko PLC where he was part of a very successful team that took the relatively unknown Brand to a position of market leadership and hopes to enjoy the same experience with MCSA. A qualified marketing professional, he gained a business degree at the University of Hertfordshire. Away from work Les enjoys the time spent with his wife and son. His other passion is football, where despite the aging process taking its toll, he can still be found kicking a football with other like-minded ‘old boys’.
Simon Pemberton is Director of Commercial Sales, he joined MCSA early 2016; an experienced sales professional, Simon has a wealth of experience in the IT industry. Educated at the University of life he has a passion for customer service and building business relationships. Simon joined the RAF from School before taking up his 1st sales role with Thompson Directories, before he moved into the IT Industry with PSU. Most recently he was at Keltec (part of the Annodata Group), where he held a number of Senior positions. In his spare time Simon loves to watch football, a life-long Aston Villa fan he is able to balance the disappointments with his real joy at watching his two young boys play the ‘beautiful game’.
Terry Storrar is Director of Managed Services at MCSA. He joined MCSA at the start of 2017 from Annodata where he was IT Services Director. A senior IT professional he has experience in designing and building services around his customer’s needs, a strong believer in team work and the development of people around him, he sees no limits on excellence. Terry started his working life as a winning National Hunt Jockey before seeing the light and swapping his horse for horse power and a life in the Technologies fast lane. Terrys other consuming passion is his family, married with two young girls – he enjoys following their sporting progress covering Tennis, football and rugby, when relaxing Terry can be found on the Golf course trying to re-capture that elusive single figure handicap!
