BANKING & FINANCE
GEMHL require a robust and well managed IT infrastructure, to ensure the continuity, availability and performance of its daily operations. By getting this right, the company can experience greater staff efficiencies and is able to deliver optimal levels of customer service. Historically the company maintained partnerships with a well known systems integrator, HPE and other technology vendors for the delivery and support of its IT infrastructure.
FOOD AND BEVERAGES
Santa Maria, is one of the leading Mexican food producers in the UK. and is part of the World Foods & Flavouring division of the Paulig Group. They were keen to keep the current IT infrastructure fully operational when migrating from a previous IT maintenance provider. The company signed a two-year contract with MCSA to deploy 24/7 maintenance support. Santa Maria now has a flexible contract that can be extended to cover future hardware investments and an engineer can be on site at a moment’s notice.
Oscar Mayer specialise in making and developing retailer label prepared foods for the top UK grocery retailers. The requirement was an IT maintenance supplier to look after its server, storage and printer infrastructure. Oscar Mayer now enjoy a cost-effective, maintenance service from MCSA with all SLAs being quickly adhered too.
Chivas Brothers is the Scotch whisky and premium gin business of Pernod Ricard, the world’s co-leader in wines and spirits. The company’s data storage estate had reached a performance plateau and a complete overhaul of its HPE EVA estate was required. MCSA’s team worked very closely with the HPE and Chivas Brothers’ team to propose the new 3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage platform Chivas Brothers now has a leading-edge, highly efficient, cost-effective and available storage environment.
UK SBS provides IT infrastructure for 17,000 users, across 18 public sector organisations. UK SBS wanted to optimise the management of its existing supply chain by sourcing a supplier that offers a wide mix of IT support services. MCSA provide hardware break/fix and a range of managed services for UK SBS’ entire IT infrastructure. MCSA has delivered cost savings in excess of £500,000 per annum across the entire contract for the IT support and services provided.
Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust
The ME NHS Trust employs nearly 4,000 staff to provide local elective and emergency services to 380,000 people. The Trust needed to optimise how it delivered all services and applications, across its two data centres, by refreshing its IT Infrastructure. MCSA designed and implemented a high performance, scalable, manageable, available and resilient architecture.
NHS Health Scotland is the special Health Board in Scotland with national responsibilities to reduce health inequalities and improve health.
NHS Health Scotland wanted a managed services provider that could deliver the majority of its needs ‘as a fully integrated service’ A spokesperson at NHS Health Scotland commented, ‘it was clear that MCSA could best deliver against our requirements at the lowest, best value price and within our budget expectations.’
Dorset Healthcare NHS Foundation
Dorset HealthCare NHS Foundation Trust (DHFT) are a Specialist Trust providing Services for over 700,000 people in Eastern Dorset and a number of services across the whole of Dorset. The IT team had to find space and power to house two full cabinets of equipment. The team had to design a tight implementation plan with little tolerance for downtime, given a need to test and introduce the virtual infrastructure
Leeds Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
LPFT operates from over 60 sites and provides help to over 2,000 people every day. The project involved 23 physical servers becoming redundant as they became virtualised MCSA redeployed some of the newer models to remote sites running file and print as a tech refresh. The Trust now enjoys an architecture that supports future growth and change requirements as well as critical business continuity through an improved remote disaster recovery site.
Medway NHS Foundation Trust
MNFT serves the local communities in the Medway towns and surrounding areas. The Trust needed a new, robust, scalable and affordable IT infrastructure to support its network bandwidth and IT growth, for at least five years. MCSA designed and implemented an HPE ProLiant based server blade infrastructure and HPE P4500 and StoreOnce backup systems for its storage area network. The Trust is also now able to accelerate deployment of new services and applications, supporting over 400,000 patients – and ultimately improve patient care.
The NHS Wales Business Services Centre provides “shared services” to support 22 Local Health Boards (LHBs) and other clients across NHS Wales in delivering services. The BSC in Wales inherited five databases accessed by over 1200 staff and hosted on 6 stand alone HPE9000 D class servers spread across Wales and there was a need to consolidate the NHAIS application and build an improved resilience. MCSA designed a two site solution that rationalised six databases across two new data centres. Each site uses three HPE Integrity Blade servers plus a further development server.
Collingwood College is a high performing specialist Academy for Technology & Applied Learning. Acting as the host contractor, Collingwood College has effectively championed MCSA to provide IT support service across their feeder school community. An MCSA engineer works from a list of jobs which needs completing unless anything is specifically prioritised by the school or Collingwood.
East Surrey College
The East Surrey College central campus predominantly caters for full-time and part-time students working towards approved qualifications. The College decided to refresh its ageing student and staff desktop estate and wished to incorporate virtual desktops into the refresh assisted by other infrastructure. Three HPE Proliant DL380 Generation 8 servers were employed, with VSphere5 and VMware View 5.1 installed. The College now has a leading-edge, highly efficient, cost-effective and available VDI environment.
The PCMS Group is one of the world’s leading providers of integrated software, services and hardware systems to the retail and food service sectors. Paul Sparkes, Managed Services Consultant at PCMS, explains, “As Unipart Automotives has over 300 sites distributed across the UK, it was imperative that the partner we chose to deliver break/fix services on our behalf, had the necessary engineering capacity to cover all sites. Our partnership with MCSA is working very well, to the point that they are now our preferred hardware support provider.”
Ultima is one of the UK’s leading providers of secure and scalable IT infrastructure solutions to private and public sector organisations. Ultima originally enlisted MCSA to aid with one particular customer who was experiencing difficulties with its infrastructure. Ultima then decided to enter into an ongoing contract. MCSA has established itself as Ultima’s preferred third party break/fix service provider, with the company servicing over 70% of Ultima’s customers Intel server and storage estates.
CITIZEN UK distribute CITIZEN watches across the UK and Southern Ireland. Citizen recognised that its aging IT and network infrastructure was negatively impacting on the service provided to its staff due to poor performance. MCSA provided knowledge and advice on the best options and recommended the design and implementation of a virtualised platform, consisting of HPE server, storage and backup technologies. CITIZEN now has a leading-edge, highly efficient, more cost-effective, faster and available IT environment.
The White Company
The White Company employed MCSA to support the server and printer estate at the company’s central distribution centre. MCSA is responsible for integrating IT in new stores, which involves building the POS interface, followed by on-site installation and testing ahead of sign-off with the store manager. Marc Harper, Technical Service Delivery Manager comments,“One big benefit of employing MCSA is their ability to retain technical staff, so we are on first name terms with the engineers who provide a consistency of service based on a close knowledge of our systems.”
Maclay Murray & Spens
Maclay Murray & Spens is a national firm of Solicitors employing a total of approximately 500 staff, operating from four UK offices and practising all forms of corporate law. MM&S required an IT maintenance provider whose service was of high-quality MCSA now provides maintenance and support for MMS’s business-critical servers, as well as the entire printer estate. The efficiency and technical expertise offered by MCSA’s team of engineers allows the IT team at Maclay Murray Spens to trust in the support service and remain focused on day-to-day activities.
TRANSPORTATION AND SHIPPING
Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority
Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority is responsible for enforcement of Environmental, Public and Animal Health Controls at the Port of Felixstowe SCPHA required dual site replication and full disaster recovery, for its key information management application. As well as a complete refresh of its legacy storage infrastructure to eradicate the risk of disruption to services and meet expected future volumes of data. MCSA has created a robust, stable and protected IT environment.
MEDIA AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS
STV’s wide range of programming reflects Scotland’s distinctive political, legal, educational, cultural and sporting institutions via news, current affairs and non-news programming. STV initially engaged with MCSA to maintain some of STV’s aged digital equipment and the support contract with the third party provider continued to grow over the years. Calum McMillan, IT service delivery manager at STV comments, “MCSA’s expertise and on-site performance over the years has been fantastic; we trust the engineers and have maintained a positive working relationship with our account manager.
Benson box is one of the largest manufacturers of cartons in the UK. MCSA has been instrumental in developing the business’s IT infrastructure to handle the system; upgrading servers right through to centralising the exchange server. MCSA proposed a plan to implement two VM based HPE blade servers to spread load and capacity when needed. Benson Box IT manager, Phil Towersey, said: “MCSA has become renowned for appropriate solutions, efficient project ownership and delivery with minimum downtime on transfer.”
QUARRYING AND MINING
Anglo American is one of the world’s largest mining and global natural resource companies. MCSA have worked with Anglo American for 13 years, providing a range of IT support services to the Corporate London Head Office, together with remote services to the Luxembourg operations. MCSA also provide an IT resource team for various roles to Anglo American, including 24x7x365 support. Anglo American has complete peace of mind that it has support available all year round to its VIP users.
API Technologies designs, develops, and manufactures electronic systems and subsystems for high reliability defence, aerospace, industrial, and commercial applications. MCSA provides IT services and business-critical support on major brands including HPE, Sun, EMC, Dell and IBM Computer Systems, as well as offering Enterprise level IP Telephony solutions (VOIP) and installation and support on the entire Cisco range of networking products.
Starkmann has provided libraries with a comprehensive supply service of books and CD-ROMs that are published in Europe and North America. Starkmann has employed MCSA, as a trusted IT support supplier for many years. This long-term relationship has been forged because MCSA consistently delivers on its reputation of valuing client needs, providing timely resolutions to issues, displaying deep engineering expertise and offering strong overall value.
Carr-Gomm is a Scottish charity supporting vulnerable people living in the community across Scotland. Following a period of rapid growth, where they relied on a single member of staff to support the entire IT environment, Carr-Gomm realised this in-house approach was no longer sustainable. The best route forward was to opt for a third party, IT Helpdesk-style offering, providing IT support and managed services. Ultimately, this IT partnership is helping to facilitate the growth and continued success of the charity.
